Welcome to the Cytowiki Frequently Asked Questions
What's a Cytowiki?
Cytowiki is a wiki and a wiki is a website that is created and edited by many people. Cytowiki is focused on everything to do with explaining histochemistry and cytochemistry.
Why Cytowiki?
Because Histochemical Society members are the best equipped scientists to explain all the nuances of histochemistry and cytochemistry to others and a wiki is an easy and inexpensive way to disseminate information in an informal manner.
Who can post an article?
Any member in good standing of the Histochemical Society may post an article to Cytowiki.
Who can edit an article?
Any member in good standing of the Histochemical Society may post an article to Cytowiki.
Does that mean my article can be changed by others?
Yes but it may be better to think of it as having a fellow histochemist edit your work? The power of wikis is in the group. As more people write and edit, the quality of the content continues to improve.
Is Cytowiki public?
Not at the present time. For now, Cytowiki is only open to HCS members. This is new territory for all of us, and we want to make sure that this works before opening it up to others. Eventually, we would like to open this up to the public and use the expertise of our members, as an informal editorial board.
Is it safe?
Cytowiki is hosted by pbwiki.com and yes our data is safe. They back up the data continually and we can also back it up while using cytowiki. We also have fully encrypted SSL access and IP white/Blacklisting.
